VTTI Dalian has completed its first commercial vessel loading of large-scale green methanol, marking a key milestone under its long-term green methanol storage and handling agreement.

The achievement represents a step forward in the development of Northeast China as a logistics hub for sustainable marine fuels. The green methanol cargo will be delivered to Shanghai, where it will be used as a marine fuel to support efforts to reduce emissions from the shipping sector.

VTTI said the milestone highlights its role in supporting the energy transition by enabling reliable storage and handling infrastructure for cleaner fuels. The company added that the project aligns with its strategy to expand sustainable infrastructure solutions and support the development of low-carbon fuel supply chains.

Located at Dalian Port, the main port serving Northeast China, VTTI Dalian is an independent public terminal that supports chemical producers and traders across the region. The facility includes four jetties capable of handling vessels of up to 50,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT), dedicated chemical storage facilities and multimodal transport connections, positioning it as a key hub for sustainable fuel distribution.
