VTTI Cyprus, also known as VTTV, marks a significant milestone as it celebrates 10 years of operation in the Eastern Mediterranean. Strategically positioned in the Vasiliko area of Cyprus, the terminal has played a pivotal role as one of the region’s largest energy storage and distribution facilities. Notably, it represents the largest foreign direct investment in Cyprus’s energy sector.

Since its establishment, the terminal has supported the local and regional markets with safe and efficient energy storage solutions. Equipped with 28 high-capacity tanks, it provides 545,000 cubic metres of storage for clean petroleum products and biofuels. The facility is outfitted with advanced safety and environmental features, a segregated Jet A-1 system, and dedicated ethanol storage, solidifying its reputation as a premier energy hub in the region.

With deep-water access and streamlined connectivity via road, marine, and pipeline networks, VTTI Cyprus facilitates diverse operations, including ship-to-ship transfers, re-Bill of Lading services, and gasoline blending. These capabilities enable customers to efficiently navigate market opportunities in a global energy landscape.

Thanos Patrikis, general manager of VTTI Cyprus and vice president of the Mediterranean region, emphasised the terminal’s commitment to sustainability and innovation: “As we move forward, we remain committed to sustainable energy solutions that not only support the local market but also across the Mediterranean and surrounding regions. By adhering to stringent environmental practices, including our investment in renewable energy initiatives, we aim to lead by example in responsible and sustainable energy management.”

VTTI’s Strategy 2028 outlines plans to expand terminal operations and explore opportunities in biofuels, transitional, and renewable energy projects. Guy Moeyens, CEO of VTTI, highlighted the company’s forward-looking approach:
“At our terminal in Cyprus, we are researching areas for growth in the biofuels, transitional and renewable energy area. We recognise the importance of our role in meeting today’s energy demands and adapting to infrastructure requirements that will help the world transition to a low-carbon economy.”

By embracing innovation and prioritising environmental sustainability, VTTI Cyprus is set to remain a key player in energy storage and distribution, contributing to the region’s transition to greener energy solutions.
