Voortman has invested more than US$50 million (€45 million) in a new manufacturing facility in Monee, Illinois, as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in the US market. The steel processing machinery manufacturer has also delivered its first US-built machine to a customer in Phoenix, Arizona, marking a milestone in its localisation efforts.
The investment is aimed at enhancing service for North American customers by bringing manufacturing closer to the market. According to the company, local production will help reduce lead times, improve responsiveness and after-sales support, while strengthening supply chain resilience and maintaining product quality.

The new facility is expected to create more than 100 jobs and expand Voortman’s manufacturing and service capabilities in the region. Located on a 27-acre site, the development includes a 20,000-square-foot office building and an 80,000-square-foot production facility, where machine assembly, customer training, and parts and consumables storage will be carried out. The site also features an experience centre for customers and visitors.
Industry and local government representatives welcomed the investment, highlighting its potential to support regional manufacturing, create skilled employment opportunities and contribute to the local economy.
Voortman said the Illinois facility has been designed to support the company’s long-term growth strategy in North America, providing the capacity to meet increasing demand for automated steel processing solutions while strengthening its local manufacturing footprint.
