VARO Energy Group has appointed Fatemeh Rezazadeh, effective August 1 2022, to the newly created position of Vice President of Hydrogen.

VARO Energy has a new strategy to become the partner of choice for customers in the energy transition by providing the sustainable and reliable energy solutions that they need to reach Net Zero. VARO also has its own commitment to become Net Zero for Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2040.

Hydrogen is one of the five strategic pillars of its Engine 2 and part of the solutions that VARO wants to provide industrial and mobility customers with. At the same time, hydrogen is used in VARO’s manufacturing plants, which the company also plans to decarbonise.

Fatemeh will oversee the development and scale-up of VARO’s hydrogen business and will lead on integrating VARO’s hydrogen offer into the company’s customer value proposition.

Dev Sanyal, CEO of VARO, said: “Fatemeh is just the kind of talent that we need to scale up our businesses in line with the strategy we laid out last week. She brings world-class expertise along with a proven track record globally in building the hydrogen business. We look forward to her leadership as we work with our customers to help them with their decarbonisation ambitions.”

Fatemeh is currently global director of business development for H₂ & CCUS at Air Products and has also served Siemens in various positions including commercial director – new energy. She holds a PhD in Carbon Capture from the University of Leeds in collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin.
