UM Terminals, a leading bulk liquid storage specialist, has been awarded the coveted Gold Award in the 2025 RoSPA Health & Safety Awards, marking a significant achievement in the company’s commitment to health and safety excellence. The recognition comes just a year after the business secured Silver on its first-ever entry, highlighting the rapid progress made across its operations.
Organised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the awards programme is the largest of its kind globally, with nearly 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries. The awards recognise organisations that demonstrate world-leading standards in accident prevention and health and safety performance.

Rebecca Broughton-Lee, environmental, health and safety manager at UM Group, led the award submission process. She commented:
“To go from Silver to Gold in the space of a year is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the hard work put in by everyone across our sites in Liverpool, Hull and Portbury. We submitted comprehensive documentation covering key areas such as occupational health, risk management, training and our safety record over the past year. RoSPA is an esteemed name in the industry, and this award is a testament to our ongoing dedication.”
The RoSPA Gold Award is a respected benchmark in health and safety standards. It provides external validation of the robust systems and procedures UM Terminals has implemented across its UK operations.
Vic Brodrick, managing director of UM Terminals, added:
“Achieving the RoSPA Gold Award provides external verification that the health and safety processes and systems we have in place within the organisation are of the highest possible standard. Progressing from Silver last time to Gold in 2025 also, importantly, highlights our commitment to the ongoing development and enhancement of these systems.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s growth director, praised the company’s achievement:
“UM Terminals should be proud of the hard work and commitment to keeping people safe that has resulted in a RoSPA Award. They are a strong example of the importance of making accident prevention central to any successful organisation.”
The RoSPA Awards are sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health. Dee Arp, NEBOSH chief quality officer and head judge of the awards, remarked: “These awards serve as a powerful reminder that employee safety and wellbeing transcends borders. Looking after our people not only ensures they go home safe and healthy but also drives long-term organisational resilience and success.”
UM Terminals’ recognition at this level underscores its position as a responsible, safety-led operator within the UK’s liquid bulk storage industry.
