Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. and Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. have announced a significant consolidation of their Thailand operations through their joint venture NS-OG Energy Solutions Ltd. The transaction, completed on May 30, 2025, saw NSET acquire OG’s entire 49 percent ownership stake in Osaka Gas Co., Ltd., making OGT a consolidated subsidiary of the joint venture.

NSE, headquartered in Tokyo’s Shinagawa ward under president Yukito Ishiwa’s leadership, partnered with Osaka-based OG, led by president Masataka Fujiwara, to execute this strategic move. The acquisition represents a key milestone in NSET’s mission to provide comprehensive on-site energy solutions throughout Thailand’s growing market.

OGT, which specialises in fuel-to-natural gas conversion services, brings established expertise in energy solutions that complements NSET’s existing capabilities. The integration is designed to streamline operations while strengthening the joint venture’s energy supply capacity across Thailand.

The consolidation positions NSET to expand its service offerings significantly. The company plans to leverage its enhanced operational platform to develop additional energy-saving projects for OGT’s existing client base while exploring opportunities in emerging sectors. Particular focus will be placed on expanding sales of biogas and other low-carbon energy products produced by the Daigas Group.

This strategic acquisition reflects the growing importance of the Thai energy market and the increasing demand for innovative, sustainable energy solutions in Southeast Asia. By combining resources and expertise, the Japanese energy companies aim to capture greater market share while advancing their commitment to environmental sustainability.

The transaction underscores the broader trend of international energy companies consolidating operations in key Asian markets to achieve greater efficiency and expanded service capabilities. For NSET, the acquisition represents a foundation for delivering more comprehensive energy solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of Thailand’s industrial and commercial sectors.
