HAWK Measurement Systems has introduced the Senator H80 Radar Series, a new range of 80 GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar level transmitters designed to provide accurate, reliable and cost-effective level measurement across liquid, slurry and bulk solids applications.

The launch expands HAWK’s level measurement portfolio, offering customers an application-focused range of technologies that includes acoustic, ultrasonic, microwave, guided wave radar, fibre optic, laser, sonar and now a comprehensive 80 GHz radar solution. The company says the broader portfolio enables users to select the most appropriate measurement technology for each application from a single supplier.

The Senator H80 Radar Series is built around 80 GHz FMCW radar technology, delivering a narrow beam angle and enhanced signal clarity for reliable measurement in challenging process conditions, including dust, steam, foam, turbulence and vapour.

The product family comprises two models. The Senator H80C Compact Radar is designed for space-constrained installations and measuring ranges of up to 30 metres, making it suitable for tanks, sumps and process vessels. The Senator H80I Integral Radar is intended for more demanding industrial environments, offering measuring ranges of up to 120 metres for both liquids and solids, as well as high-temperature versions capable of operating in temperatures up to 260°C.

Together, the two transmitters provide a scalable radar platform that enables facilities to standardise on a single technology across multiple applications.

According to HAWK, the Senator H80 Radar Series has been developed to offer high-performance radar measurement at a competitive cost, making it suitable for both individual installations and larger plant-wide instrumentation projects.

The transmitters have also been designed to simplify installation and commissioning through Bluetooth connectivity, PC software and user-friendly configuration tools. The Senator H80I additionally features an integrated keypad and display to support local configuration and diagnostics, helping reduce commissioning time and ongoing maintenance requirements.

The Senator H80 Radar Series is suitable for a broad range of industries, including mining and minerals, oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, cement and building materials, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and water and wastewater treatment. Its non-contact measurement technology is intended to provide reliable performance in aggressive or contaminated process environments.
