Global Energy Storage (GES), a new energy storage company set up earlier in 2021 to focus on products for the energy transition, has appointed Graham Sharp as a non-executive director.

Sharp was previously the chair of Swiss oil company Puma Energy and a senior vice-president at Russian oil company TNK-BP. He is one of the co-founders of Trafigura and led the oil trading team there until he retired. He is now a senior advisor at US management consultancy Oliver Wyman. He has also sat on the boards of various renewable energy start-ups and is an active investor in the sector.

GES said Sharp will bring wide energy experience and a network of contacts to drive the company’s growth. He will support GES’ new energies strategy, including hydrogen and hydrogen carriers.

“Graham brings a wealth of experience from the energy trading and midstream space and will contribute significantly to the strategic development of our company. I am confident that his network and in-depth industry expertise will be of great value to GES as we seek to add value to our partners by developing the logistics and storage infrastructure that is needed to facilitate the energy transition,” said Peter Vucins, CEO of GES.
