Exergy International, a prominent global provider of clean energy technology and a leader in next-generation geothermal Organic Rankine Cycle power plants, has officially entered into a contract with RentCo Africa Limited. RentCo, an independent firm known for its energy leasing solutions in Kenya, has engaged Exergy to undertake engineering activities for the RentCo Wellhead geothermal project located in Olkaria, Kenya.

The contract was signed last Thursday by Erdogan Arpaci, general manager of Exergy Turkey, and Robert Nyasmi, CEO of RentCo East Africa Limited. This agreement follows the Cooperation Agreement established in July 2024 and marks the commencement of the engineering phase aimed at supplying Exergy’s ORC systems. These systems are designed to harness the geothermal resources at Olkaria, contributing approximately 30 MWe of capacity.

The project is set to integrate both ORC and flash power plant technologies, collectively adding an impressive 67 MWe to the existing geothermal capacity of the Olkaria field. This development aligns with Kenya’s broader goals for sustainable energy, reinforcing the country’s commitment to renewable power expansion.

As Exergy’s first project on the African continent, this initiative represents a major milestone, positioning the company as a pivotal participant in a region experiencing rapid growth in the clean energy sector. This move underscores Exergy’s ambition to establish itself as a leading contributor to Africa’s evolving energy landscape.
