CMS Corporation (CMS) has been awarded a $3.5 million task order for the Soo Locks Materials Storage Building (MSB) Windows Replacement project under the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Nashville Lakes & Rivers Division (LRD) Regional Construction Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC).

The project will be carried out at the Soo Locks Materials Storage Building in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, situated along the St. Marys River between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, near the border between Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Ontario, Canada. The scope of work includes the replacement of 116 historic exterior windows, as well as additional windows that no longer meet integrity requirements. The new windows will be designed to comply with current energy-efficiency and anti-terrorism standards while maintaining the building’s historic character.

All work will be performed in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

The contract marks CMS’s second project award at the Soo Locks facility. According to the company, the project will focus on preserving the historic significance of the building while improving its performance, safety, and long-term reliability.
