Advario was honoured to welcome Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Barry Madlener to its Rotterdam site, where the company is partnering with Power2X to develop a world-scale eSAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) hub. The visit provided an important opportunity to discuss the strategic potential of industrial-scale eSAF production in the Netherlands.
During the visit, discussions centred on how the project contributes to decarbonising the aviation sector and supporting the transition to net-zero emissions, while also reinforcing the Port of Rotterdam’s role as a competitive and resilient hub for the future energy industry.

The planned eSAF facility will be powered by green methanol imported from regions with abundant and cost-effective clean energy, including Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, India, and the Americas. By leveraging Rotterdam’s world-class infrastructure and existing petrochemical ecosystem, the project aims to deliver low-carbon fuels to energy-intensive sectors, notably aviation, at a globally competitive scale.
This initiative represents more than a single facility—it is a strategic stepping stone towards establishing a robust methanol import and processing industry that will future-proof the fuels and chemicals sector in Rotterdam and beyond.
Advario expressed its appreciation to Minister Madlener for his visit and the constructive dialogue shared. The company looks forward to ongoing collaboration with policymakers to ensure the Netherlands continues to lead in the global energy transition.
