CRC Evans and Monter Strojarske Montaže d.d. have announced a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the development of hydrogen infrastructure in Europe, including work on a landmark cross-border project within the emerging hydrogen economy.

Under the collaboration, Monter, with support from CRC Evans, will deliver infrastructure for what is described as one of Europe’s first Hydrogen Valley projects. The initiative forms part of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV), a regional hydrogen ecosystem spanning Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The project is intended to establish key hydrogen transport infrastructure while strengthening energy connectivity across Central and Eastern Europe.

The development represents a significant step in Europe’s energy transition strategy, creating a foundation for future hydrogen transportation networks. CRC Evans will contribute its expertise in advanced welding technologies, while Monter will serve as the principal contractor for pipeline construction activities.

The project encompasses more than 200 kilometres of pipeline infrastructure across three major sections, each requiring specialised engineering and construction solutions. The network will include hydrogen-ready pipeline systems, with selected sections designed to accommodate the future transport of up to 100 percent hydrogen. All three phases of the project are expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2026.

CRC Evans’ role will focus on providing specialised welding services necessary to meet the stringent technical and regulatory requirements associated with hydrogen infrastructure development. The company’s expertise is expected to support compliance with evolving hydrogen transportation standards while ensuring the integrity and safety of the network.

According to company representatives, the project is viewed as an important milestone in Europe’s efforts to build the infrastructure required for large-scale hydrogen deployment. The collaboration is also expected to contribute to improving energy resilience and facilitating the future transportation of low-carbon hydrogen across regional markets.

The partnership builds on an established working relationship between the two companies and reflects growing industry efforts to develop the infrastructure needed to support Europe’s decarbonisation objectives. Industry stakeholders increasingly regard strategic collaborations between technology providers and infrastructure contractors as essential to accelerating the deployment of hydrogen projects across the continent.

With more than 90 years of industry experience, CRC Evans continues to expand its global presence in response to evolving energy market demands. Operating in more than 100 countries, the company provides specialised welding and coating solutions for projects across the oil and gas, renewable energy, nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture, and broader infrastructure sectors.
