Lawrence Ziemba has been made an independent member of the Board of Directors of PAA GP Holdings LLC. The GP Holdings Board manages the business and affairs of both Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. (PAA) and Plains GP Holdings (PAGP).

CEO Willie Chiang (who succeeds Greg Armstrong as Chairman) said Ziemba will bring “extensive operating and downstream perspective” to the company. He added: “With approximately 40 years of experience in the energy sector, Larry has a wealth of operations, technical, and project management expertise.”

Ziemba was Executive Vice President, Refining, and a member of the Executive Committee at Houston-based energy company Phillips 66 for five years. Prior to that he was at ConocoPhillips for eleven years, in roles including, (but not limited to), President, Global Refining.

He also held various positions with Unocal/Tosco/Phillips Petroleum Company between 1977 and 2001, and has served in a leadership capacity with notable industry groups, including as Chairman of the AFPM (American Fuels and Petrochemical Manufacturers), Vice Chairman of the API (American Petroleum Institute) Downstream Committee and a member of the Western States Petroleum Association Board.

Elsewhere at PAA and PAGP, a range of previously announced role changes came into effect, as of January 1. 

Lead Director – Bobby Shackouls (he will continue to serve as chair of the Governance Committee);

Chairman of the Board – Mr. Chiang (he will continue to serve as CEO. He succeeds Mr. Armstrong, who will remain as a Director until December 31, 2021)

Chair of the Audit Committee – Victor Burk (succeeding Everardo Goyanes, who continues to serve as a Director and member of the Audit Committee).
