Valero recently signed a new multi-year agreement with ABP Port of Cardiff “to guarantee the continuing and efficient supply of road fuels – including petrol, ultra-low sulphur diesel and biofuels at our Cardiff terminal”.

It said: “This is part of our long-term commitment to help meet the energy needs of South and Mid Wales.”

The site opened in 1965, with a 12-acre terminal that consists of 13 fuel storage tanks, a combined capacity of over 56 million litres. Fuels are supplied directly from its nearby Pembroke refinery by committed marine tankers, to assure that its high standards for quality can be maintained at all times.

The facility operates 24 hours-per-day, 7 days-a-week at a convenient location for truck loading, near well-established transport links.

As part of the new agreement with ABP Port of Cardiff, large investments have been made to improve jetty infrastructure and replace both inner and outer lock gates.

Valero concluded: “We are pleased to be able to provide secure, self-managed fuel supply to our loyal Welsh and South West customers, and we look forward to doing so for many years to come.”
