StocExpo has announced a new focal point for the 2021 event in Antwerp – the Emergency Planning & Response Zone (EPR) – to help ensure terminals are prepared for any potential disaster or emergency.

It said there are a whole range of dangers that can pose a threat to storage terminals, including terrorism, lightning, fire, cybersecurity breaches, hurricanes, tank overflow or earthquakes, to name a few.

It added: “Preparedness to deal with potential incidents at a site where hazardous goods are being stored is crucial to the survival of a tank farm. How an incident is dealt with can have serious repercussions for employees’ safety, the company’s reputation and the terminal’s bottom line.”

Rikki Bhachu, StocExpo senior marketing manager, said: “We have launched this new area of the show as we felt there was a need to focus on the planning for disasters in the bulk liquid storage industry.”

He added: “The Emergency Planning & Response Zone will help HSE managers learn about emergency response planning and find the latest techniques designed to keep their terminal safe and secure. It is something StocExpo wants to focus on for 2021, and we are looking forward to having a dedicated exhibitor zone, as well as conference topics based on EPR to help the industry.”

StocExpo 2021 will be held between 16-18 March in Antwerp, Belgium
