Alongside Royal Vopak , GET H2 and Northern Green Crane, Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies has said it will implement one of the first industrial-scale green hydrogen import projects, transporting up to 8,000 tonnes per year from Sweden to Germany and the Netherlands by 2026.

Green Crane said it “stands as a beacon for ramping-up a pan-European hydrogen transport infrastructure, to be enabled by our LOHC technology.”

As it is now establishing green hydrogen production in Sweden, the project has been renamed Northern Green Crane.

Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies said: “With Sweden as a new source, with its excellent infrastructure and bold industry players, we will significantly improve the project setup, and all landing points remain as planned by us and our industry partners Royal Vopak and the GET H2 initiative in Germany.”

It added: “As part of the Northern Green Crane project, not only will the LOHC hydrogenation/storage facility still be built at the production site (24 tonnes H2 per day, now in Sweden, previously planned in Spain), but we will also erect an additional LOHC dehydrogenation/release plant in Rotterdam (12 tonnes H2 per day; as well as, of course, in Lingen/Germany).”

The project applications have been submitted within the IPCEI application wave RHATL (Regional Hubs and Their Links) to the European Commission, and are awaiting approval.

Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies concluded: “We strongly believe Northern Green Crane will meet all requirements proposed by the IPCEI framework, such as involving several EU countries and generating positive spillover effects across the EU.”
