Construction is set to begin on two more underground gas storage facilities in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality by the end of 2018, PetroChina has said.

PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gas Field Company has said the Tongluoxia and Huangcaoxia facilities are to be completed by 2022 at a total cost of CNY5.3bn ($830m). Combined they are expected to produce an annual supply of 1.28 billion cbm of gas.

With the addition of the two developments China have around 27 underground gas storage facilities nationwide.
