The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has started operations to send crude oil through a new pipeline from Goreh to Jask.

The project will see one million barrels of crude oil transferred through the pipeline from Goreh in Bushehr to Jask on the Gulf of Oman per day. It will be stored and exported via the Jask terminal.

NIOC says that the pipeline and terminal are part of a national strategic plan and will guarantee the continuation of Iran’s crude oil exports and the decentralisation and diversification of export terminals, as well as creating jobs on the Makran coast.

According to the company, the plan to transfer crude oil from Goreh to Jask is the largest ongoing project in the oil industry.

It will require the manufacture of transmission valves, required electric pumps, construction of a thousand kilometres of oil transfer pipeline, construction of storage tanks, terminals and single buoy moorings in the Jask region.

CEO Masoud Karbasian said: “After the oil reaches Jask, which takes less than a month, in the near future, the official opening ceremony and commissioning of this national project will be held in the presence of the President.”
