Contracts from Gassco and ABB to deliver an Operator Training Simulator (OTS) for the Zeepipe gas receiving terminal have been awarded to Billington Process Technology (BPT).
The Zeepipe gas receiving terminal, which is located in the port area of Zeebrugge in Belgium, is operated by Gassco. It removes possible residual liquids and solids, and regulates gas flow and temperature.
In addition, it measures volume and checks quality before the gas continues to the transport operator downstream of the terminal.
The OTS will be configured by an integrated team of ABB and BPT specialists – the main components will be simulator versions of ABB process control systems and HIMA safety systems, connected to a UniSim dynamic process model and instructor station.
Knut Erik Spilling, BPT vice president for Sales & Marketing, said: “This contract award is a testimonial of BPT’s domain and simulator expertise. The OTS will be used for operator training in handling normal operations as well as abnormal situations.”
