The Italian Adriatic LNG terminal experienced an unplanned outage due to a technical equipment issue.

The outage supported the PSV Day-ahead contract, increasing its premium over the Dutch TTF equivalent.

Italian utility Edison said that on Monday (May 24) evening, it received a notice of an unplanned outage at the 6mtpa Adriatic LNG terminal at Rovigo meaning sendout from the terminal was reduced to zero. Sendout then resumed on Saturday May 29 at minimum pace – this will gradually be increased. An LNG carrier berthed at the terminal and started unloading this morning (June 1).

Sendout from the terminal accounts for the largest share of regasified LNG fed into the Italian grid and is underpinned by a long-term agreement between Italian utility Eddison and Qatari producer Qatargas, which accounts for most arrivals.

Data from Italian grid operator SNAM Rete Gas data showed that since the start of the month sendout from the Adriatic LNG terminal has averaged around 22 million cubic meters (mcm)/day. This was roughly 60 per cent of the overall LNG sendout for the period.

The company is now working to restore, in the shortest possible time, the normal redelivery of the plant.

The disruption has also led to cargoes currently being unable to berth at the terminal for the duration of the outage.
